KEY FACTS This Porsche 924 Carrera GT is a rare and exciting modern classic performance coupe, and a homologation special with a distinctive appearance. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. This example is an original French-market model, which was first registered in 1981. The odometer indicates 69,786 km, though this is not warranted. One of just 406 examples of the homologation-special 924 Carrera GT built. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES The Carrera GT variant was created to homologate the 924 for Group 4 competition requirements. It used the engine from the 924 Turbo, but added a top-mounted intercooler, electronic ignition, and a higher compression ratio to take power from 170 to 210hp. Its appearance was also significantly changed, with flared wheel arches, a deep front splitter, a prominent bonnet scoop to feed the intercooler, and a larger rear spoiler. Bilstein sport shock absorbers were standard, with a ride height 10mm lower at the front and 15mm at the rear than the standard road-going Porsche 924. It is finished in black with a contrasting red ‘Carrera’ decal on the passenger-side front wing, over a black vinyl and black and red pinstripe cloth-trimmed interior, featuring red front seat piping, and embossed Porsche lettering on the door cappings. It rides on a set of 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels finished in matte-black with anodised lips and fitted with Bridgestone S-02 tyres.
