Description
Introduced in 1975 as the first turbocharged production 911, the 930 Turbo became Porsche's flagship and a defining supercar of its era, known for its wide fenders, "Tea Tray" rear spoiler, and forced-induction performance. For 1978 it gained a larger 3.3-liter intercooled engine, and rest-of-world examples carried a higher 300 HP output than their US-market counterparts. This 1984 Porsche 930 Turbo is a rest-of-world example finished in Slate Blue Metallic over a dark blue leather interior with Sport Seats, pairing the 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six with a 4-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. A highly original, third-owner example, it has been fitted with a period Andial variable wastegate and fuel-enrichment system. Showing less than 47k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction in New York.
Finished in the rare Slate Blue Metallic, this 930 Turbo features the model's flared fenders, "Tea Tray" rear spoiler, fog lights, a rear wiper, and stock Fuchs wheels. German aftermarket boxed rockers have been installed for a more aggressive look. The seller states that the paint is believed to be original, noting minor paint freckling on the front hood and lower fascia, and adds that the tires retain excellent tread though they are approximately ten years old. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is trimmed in dark blue leather with a matching dashboard, door cards, and floor mats, and features the factory Sport Seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, and a blue leather-wrapped gearshift. A 935-style boost gauge has been fitted in place of the clock, and an aftermarket radio has been installed, with the original Blaupunkt Köln radio and Hirschmann antenna included in the sale. The seller notes very minor bolster wear on the driver's seat, describing the interior as otherwise in excellent condition with original carpets and no dash cracks. The car is also noted to have been equipped with a rare heated windshield not listed on the options tag. A list of option codes is provided below:
