Description
Introduced for 1986 as the final evolution of Porsche’s original front-engine transaxle sports car, the 924S combined the narrow, lightweight bodywork of the 924 with a detuned version of the 944’s 2.5-liter inline-four, along with upgraded suspension, five-lug wheels, and 944-style brakes. This 1987 example is finished in its factory Guards Red over a black leather and cloth interior and has traveled fewer than 20k miles from new. Purchased new on March 28, 1987, the car remained with its original owner for 29 years before passing to his wife, who donated it to Eastern Iowa Community College in 2016 with 19,734 miles recorded. It was subsequently displayed indoors within the college’s automotive technology department and remained largely unused until being auctioned in 2024, when it was acquired by the current owner. Driven just 16 miles since and stored in a climate-controlled facility, this remarkably well-preserved 924S is now being offered for auction in Florida.
The exterior is finished in its factory-original Guards Red (LM3A) and features pop-up headlights, a rear spoiler, and a removable sunroof with its accompanying storage bag. The car rides on factory 15” Phone Dial alloy wheels fitted with 2014-dated tires. According to the seller, the original paint remains in exceptional condition with only a few minor imperfections. Detailed images of the bodywork, paint, trim, glass, and wheels are provided in the gallery, along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
