Description
Among the rarest variants of the final air-cooled 911, the Porsche 993 Targa features a power-operated sliding glass roof with an electric rolling sunshade. This 1997 example is one of just 567 US-spec Targas built for the model year and comes finished in Black over a matching interior, pairing a 3.6-liter flat-six with a 6-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Acquired by its second owner approximately 26 years ago, this long-term-owned example is now being offered for auction in California showing approximately 37k miles.
A departure from prior 911 Targa models, the 993 version was the first to feature a power-operated glass roof panel that retracts beneath the rear window. This example is finished in Black and features projector headlights, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, black Porsche-branded brake calipers, a raised "basket handle" rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 17" Targa wheels wrapped in new tires. The seller states that the car has never been in an accident or had paintwork, with paint readings said to confirm original paint, and notes only a couple of small scratches low on the passenger door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Black and includes a high-capacity air-conditioning system with defroster vents for the rear quarter windows, fitted as standard on the Targa. Other equipment includes power windows, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, and a Porsche CDR-210 head unit. The seller notes that the Targa roof's sunshade has been redone and functions perfectly, and that the driver's seat back requires a stitching repair.
