Description
This 1964 Plymouth Barracuda is a one-off design study that was modified when new by Chrysler stylists, who transformed it into a targa-style “Landau” version with a removable fabric roof panel. Finished in Gold over gold-colored vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 273ci V8 linked with a push-button three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes steel 13″ wheels, styled wheel covers, power brakes, and an AM radio. The selling dealer acquired the vehicle in mid-2026. This Barracuda prototype is now offered in Michigan at no reserve with a soft roof panel and a clean Tennessee title. Plymouth launched the Valiant-based Barracuda fastback on April 1, 1964, and the carmaker built 23,443 examples for the abbreviated 1964 model year. The model featured a distinctive curved rear window, deck lid, and roofline as well as a Barracuda-only split grille. This example was finished from the factory in Gold (A) and was repainted at some point under prior ownership, according to the seller. Exterior details include front vent windows, bright trim, V8 fender badges, a Valiant logo at the leading edge of the deck lid, reverse lights, and wraparound chrome bumpers.
